Product details

The initial idea involves the two melodic instruments playing a melodic line or lines which undergo isorhythmic treatment. The harp elaborates and thickens the texture at cadential points. Despite there being plenty of variety, after some time I felt that relief in the form of static prolonged harmonies was called for, much as there is a need for relief at a watering hole after a walk in the desert. These two types of texture form the basis of the work.

It will be inferred from this, that, as with most of my present compositions, there was no initial planning. The aim rather is to allow arbitrarily chosen elements to become more important, or to combine them as is fitting in the final section of this piece.
