Product details
Starting with a mishearing of Shakespeare's poem: The Rape of Lucretia, The Rape of the Creature is a play on the 'who-dunit' genre. With borrowings from Shakespeare's poem, three nuns rehearse a ritual summoning of Lilith to symbolically avenge men's cruelty to women, of which all have personal experience. Unfortunately, things go very wrong. What sets out as a humorous game to let off steam takes on a momentum of its own with fatal consequences. The Rape of a Creature is a comic opera with a dark underbelly.
