Product details
Today is from a rock opera I wrote while in high school. The show had a strong protest theme which was common at the time and so the words of many of it's songs are fairly confronting and bleak. I liked this song so rather than tone down the lyrics for a modern audience I have chosen to present them as I wrote them at age 14. They are somewhat naive but honest and present a little time capsule of some the 'hot topics' of 1974. Because of this I have added the year to the title. The song includes a short boogie section, which was in all sincerity designed to provide a moment of ironic, if not comic relief despite the fact that the lyrics are just as bitter as the rest of it. The guitar part was meant to sound slightly medieval and was probably inspired by Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull.
