Wings of death is from the music theatre production Bodysongs, produced by Theatreworks and Calculated Risks Opera Productions at Theatreworks, St Kilda, Victoria, 1999. Exploring themes of body image and the aging process, the production was directed by Robert Draffin, with words by Humphrey Bower, and music by Richard Vella.
Wings of death can be sung as written for soprano or tenor, or transposed down the octave to suit lower alro ranges. Along with other songs from the original production, 'Wings of death' has also been arranged for soloist and choir with the collective title: Bodysongs: Collection One.
The song can be sung with or without microphone. Also possible are references to popular music genres. If popular references are used, the soloist may wish to use some rhythmic freedom and interpretation.
