Work Overview
Galumphing, slithy, frabjous, chortled, uffish, mimsy, frumious…
You see, it's like a portmanteau- there are two meanings packed up into one word!
Inspired by the nonsense literature of Lewis Carroll, Frumious borrows structural techniques from musique-concrete to experiment with a mosaic, patchwork-like design that positions oppositional ideas against each other as stylistic juxtapositions; what I like to call "musical portmanteaus". Drawing influence from jazz, metal, and rock, Frumious's frequent toggling between styles explores the structural ideas of both the Alice and Sylvie books, where abrupt changes in location and conversation generate a fragmented dreamworld in which characters continually slip in and out of dreaming and waking states.
