Moonscape, Framed : horn solo
by David Keeffe (2019)
The work was commissioned to provide a prelude and postlude to the concert. While it was designed specifically to merge seamlessly into an A minor piano work, and seamlessly out of an E-flat major Schubert lied, it can stand alone as a prelude and postlude/prologue and epoilogue.
Instrumentation: Horn in F. Preferably played off-stage but may be played on-stage if a standalone work.
Duration: 5 min.
Difficulty: Advanced — Requires good range and interpretive sense,
Contents note: I. Prelude -- II. Postlude.
Commission note: Commissioned by Janis Cook as part of the "Flip'd" concert series.
First performance: by Jeffrey McGann — 17 Oct 19. "Moonscape" at the David Williamson Theatre, Prahran Vic
