Score & Part

A New Covenant / Carl Crossin ; text: Psalm 46:10 and Jeremiah 31:33.

Library shelf no. 782.5525/CRO 1 [Available for loan]

Work Overview

The text of A New Covenant is taken from Psalm 46:10 and Jeremiah 31:33. Given that the work was composed for the 500th Anniversary of the Reformation it is based on the famous hymn "A mighty fortress is our God". The organ part is quite simple and deliberately repetetive. As such, variety can expressed through subtle changes in registration rather than through constant development of melodic and harmonic ideas.
