The Blake Songs : medium voice and cello / music by Jacqui Rutten ; words by William Blake.

Library shelf no. 783.4542/RUT 8 [Available for loan]

Work Overview

The Blake Songs are a group of four songs based on William Blake's poetry, for medium/high voice and cello composed during the pandemic. The songs are influenced by Vaughan Williams, although I had not heard his setting of the first song before I composed my setting of 'The Divine Image'. The other songs are 'The Little Boy Lost', 'The Little Boy found', and 'The Laughing Song'. A fifth song has been left out and stands as a solo song. The songs were composed with pen and paper. Theoretical influences are Oxford Harmony Volumes 1 and 2.
