Glenn Dixon's work Vitreous Shades of Rock has been selected to be presented at the 2023 ISCM World New Music Days, taking place between 24 November and 3 December in South Africa.
Glenn's work is one of only 11 works accepted from an international pool of Individual Submissions made to the ISCM.
As a drummer, grooves and ostinatos form a natural part of Glenn's compositional style. This bleeds into Vitreous Shades of Rock, written for clarinet, piano, and string ensemble, where rock piano playing, guitar and bass riffs, and drum grooves feature as a quirky reflection of rock and popular music.
Vitreous Shades of Rock will represent contemporary Australian composition to an international delegation of art music creators and administrators, along with Angus Davison's Nigel, also selected in the medium chamber ensemble category.
