ISCM World New Music Days 2025: Australian Section selections
The ISCM Australian Section's official submission to the 2025 World New Music Days has been selected.
The Australian Music Centre represents the Australian Section of the ISCM and have the privilege of shortlisting six works for presentation at the World New Music Days festival each year. In 2025, the festival will have a special theme of "Thirst for Change", emphasising an ecological and environmental dimension.
This year, six works have been selected across six different categories

Thomas Misson - Infinite Affinities (2023) -
Electroacoustic music
Jane Sheldon (in collaboration with Julia Davis) - To the Heart: A Calling (2020) -
Youth choir
Dan Walker - Listen. Are you breathing just a little and calling it a life? (2022) -
Solo Portuguese guitar
James Beattie - Engolfado (engulfed) (2024)
These works were selected from a pool of 47 submissions across 14 unique categories. We congratulate the creators of the selected works and thank all who submitted works for consideration.
The ISCM festival orgnisers will take the next steps in programming for the World New Music Days 2025. At least one work from the Australian Section submission will be guaranteed a performance at the World New Music Days, due to take place in Lisbon and Porto, Portugal, between 30 May and 7 June 2025.
