ISCM World New Music Days 2024: Australian Section selections
The ISCM Australian Section's official submission to the 2024 World New Music Days has been selected.
As the Australian Section to the ISCM, the AMC have had the privilege to select six works across six different program categories to represent contemporary music by Australian creators:
- Jazz Ensemble
Gary Daley - Hunger (2019)
- Solos
Sylvia Lim - flare (2021)
- Electronic Music with Fixed Media
Jane Sheldon - Equinox (2021)
- Chamber Ensemble (10-13 instruments)
Annie Hui-Hsin Hsieh - Creased impressions on the imagined surface of becoming (2019)
- Trios or Quartets
Alex Turley - Zero Sum Game (2021) - Duos
Chris Perren - Escapement (2019)
These works were selected from an impressive pool of 42 submissions across 14 unique categories. We congratulate the creators of the selected works and thank all who submitted works for consideration.
The ISCM festival will now consider which works it will program for the 2024 World New Music Days, due to take place in Tórshavn on the Faroe Islands, 22-30 June 2024. At least one work from each official section submission is guaranteed a performance. The AMC will publicise the announcement of the festival program in due course.
Individual submissions to the ISCM World New Music Days can still be submitted until 1:59pm CET on Tuesday 10 October 2023 (or 9:59am AEDT on Wednesday 11 October 2023). An entry fee of €53.50 applies at the time of submission.
