Born in 1956, Phillip Beazley completed the NSW Conservatorium of Music's Associate Diploma in Jazz Studies, majoring in arranging, in 1980. He has also studied composition privately with Eric Gross.

Beazley has been involved with many projects, principally in the areas of jazz, popular and film music. These projects have included co-writing a number of songs, including Communication, which was a national top ten song for John Farnham and Danni'elle; co-writing and producing an album of world music (The Circle and the Cross) with the band Aisling, and six CDs of library music for EMI Music Publishing; and co-producing the initial jazz releases on the rooArt label, of Monica and the Moochers, Carl Orr, and Tom Baker. He co-wrote three of the five original songs for the Australian feature film Billy's Holiday, and has written music for television advertisements for companies including Nescafé, American Express, Ella Baché, and Apple Computers.

Beazley formed his band, Feet First, in 1993, and has performed with them at the Basement, Jazz in the Vines, the Manly Jazz Festival, the Gold Coast Jazz and Blues Festival, and the Sydney Opera House Boardwalk. The band released a CD entitled Walking for Miles in 1995. Feet First also form part of the 'Trans4Mation', which performs covers and some of Beazley's original compositions. As well as performing with these bands, Beazley has also appeared with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra at a number of family concerts in the Domain in Sydney, and at the Sydney Opera House.
