Aptly described by The Age as ‘One of this country’s most daring and fascinating composers’, Andrea Keller is a leading light in Australian contemporary music. She has released five albums, winning three ARIA Awards for Best Jazz Album (2002, 2003, 2008), two Bell Awards for Best Australian Contemporary Jazz Album (2003, 2008) and the inaugural MCA Freedman Jazz Fellowship in 2001.
Described as distinctive and alluring, the Andrea Keller Quartet produces a unique and unparalleled sound. The coupling of trumpet, tenor saxophone, drums and piano has been a leading force in developing a chamber music like approach to her compositions. For this very special performance, the Quartet will be joined by Bernie McGann, long regarded as the most original alto saxophonist in Australian jazz, to perform new works by Keller.
