Since resigning as Dean of the V.C.A. School of Music a few years ago, highly respected pianist/composer Tony Gould received an Australia Council Fellowship grant over 2006/7 to compose major cross-genre works and write two books. This year he was awarded the prestigious Don Banks Fellowship for his contribution to Australian music. Here he teams up with young saxophonist Andrew Brooks, who relocated to Melbourne from Perth in 2008 where he has been playing with numerous ensembles including his own group _motion. As a duo, the pair recorded a set of original material and standards for the ABC program Jazztrack earlier in the year, and tonight they will present music from that recording.
