Event Details

Soulful vocals meet soaring strings when award-winning First Nations performer Emily Wurramara shares the stage with Camerata – Queensland’s Chamber Orchestra. In this exciting collaboration, Emily’s spirited storytelling will be enriched by the powerful string sounds of Camerata. Singing in both English and her Peoples’ language, Anindilyakwa, Emily will perform a selection of her original songs as well as some of Camerata’s favourite pieces. A seasoned performer who has taken her music around the country and abroad, Emily’s passion for culture and heritage resonates with every beat of her deeply personal songs. Messages of Country, healing and redemption swirl within the syllables and strings of this powerful performance – taking listeners on a journey through the most personal, intimate corners of the music. The programme will also feature a world premiere work for string orchestra, by Camerata’s Emerging Composer-in-Residence, Alexander Voltz.
