'How far can music be mated to poetry without damage to one or the other? asked critic Neville Cardus. Can the composer be too reverential to the poet? Do banal lyrics make the best songs? What comes first: the words or the music?
Composer Graeme Koehne and writer Peter Goldsworthy are serial collaborators. They answer these questions and many others, as they discuss the pitfalls and pleasures of their relationship, immediately before the premiere of their latest project, The Ringtone Cycle.
