Event Details
Penelope Thwaites AM, pianist, composer and broadcaster, has performed and researched Grainger’s music for more than three decades and her recordings include an extensive Grainger discography. She is also the editor of The New Percy Grainger Companion, an invaluable source of information on Grainger repertoire and performance. In this special illustrated lecture, Penelope shares perspectives on Melbourne-born Grainger’s unique musical world, and introduces an array of recorded examples – orchestral, choral, multi-piano, percussion and wind-band.
This is the perfect supplement to the exciting concert on Thursday 21 May in the Salon, in which Penelope will be joined by students from the Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM) in the Australian Voices program, Percy Grainger.
