The EcoSono Environmental Music and Sound Art Festival will come to Anchorage, Alaska from July 26-29, 2017. Featuring the EcoSono Ensemble and an international cast of sound artists, the festival celebrates the beautiful soundscape of Alaska and world ecoacoustics. Concerts and installations will take place at the Anchorage Museum, the International Gallery of Contemporary Art, and the Church of Love. The festival features music by Daniel Blinkhorn (Australia), Nashim Ximena Gargari (Mexico), Stephanie Cheng Smith (California), Siyang Sophia Shen (China), D. Edward Davis (Connecticut), Christopher Mega-Luna (Mexico), Yingjia Lemon Guo (China), Glen Whitehead (Colorado), Openfield Creative Lab’s Francisca Rocha Gonçalves (aka DJ Sininho) (Portugal), and Alaskan-born Matthew Burtner among others.

Join us for a kick-off listening interaction at Beluga Point on Turnagain Arm at 6pm on Wednesday, July 26 to hear the Bore Tide and listen underwater in Cook Inlet.

Take a break from the city bustle for RuSh Hour at the Anchorage Museum on Thursday, July 27 at 5pm, where EcoSono Ensemble will perform music outdoors made from the Alaskan nature.

Join EcoSono Ensemble for an evening of ecoacoustic chamber and improvised music on Friday night at Spenard’s Church of Love (3502 Spenard Rd.).

Finally, on Saturday night at the International Gallery of Contemporary Art (427 D St), the Biomes listening experience will showcase music made from tundra, desert grassland, forest, aquatic and mountain regions; a reception; and a chance to discuss music and environment with the artists.
