Event Details

Conventionally, études (studies) are pieces which flex a performer’s technical ability. Equally, composers write them to mine the depths of an instrument’s capability. In this program, the latter is explored as the traditional étude is left behind for solo works in which the composers act as mechanical, electrical, and software engineers who progressively deconstruct the properties of the keyboard through increasingly extreme manipulations and distortions. Program: Lachlan Hughes - Cadence Loops Kate Moore - Sensitive Spot Donnacha Dennehy - Stainless Staining There will be an interval of approximately 20 minutes. Accessibility - follow the link below to see Tempo Rubato's accessibility information. https://www.temporubato.com.au/accessibility This performance will take place on the unceded lands of the Woirorung people of the Kulin nation. I pay respect to their Elders past, present, and emerging. I acknowledge that sovereignty has never been ceded. It always was and always will be, Aboriginal land.

Featured non-Australian music: Donnacha Dennehy - Stainless Staining, inti figgis-vezueta - a bridge between starshine and clay, Salvatore Sciarrino - Perduto in una città d'acque, Enno Poppe - Arbeit
