Event Details

Imagine a space where you are washed utterly clean and float through mysterious worlds of sounding glass water stone and text . An entire gallery is installed with Ros Bandt’s glass sound sculptures and playable instruments, videos of jellyfish and a scientific experimental bath where sounds from over and  underwater  are captured and spread throughout the room. Glass as material has enticed the artist since 1978 when she built her first playable glasssculpture the Flagong and began her soft and fragile music series recorded on Move Records. For three months she has been artist in residence at Library Artspace Gallery in North Fitzroy composing  new surround sound works creating a unique multi-sensory experience. It’s at once a meditative room of contemplation, a heightened listening space and a room to dream. It comes alive through glass music performed by the artist every Wednesday in January at 8.00 pm.

Ros’s articulations of extraordinary sites are well known from water tanks to the Yerebatan Cistern, Istanbul, the Ancient wheatstore in the Palaio Frourio Corfu, trucks on Sydney Road and Keramikos Odos  Athens, silos, deserts and oceans, industrial landcapes and virtual spaces. Living now in North Fitzroy after living in Greece, she is thrilled to be showing in the local artist’s community, maintaining her  low carbon footprint.

Wednesday to Saturday 12-5pm.

Opening live performance: Tuesday 18 December at 7.00-7.45. pm.
