Event Details
Guitarist Ken Murray and flautist Laila Engle join forces to present works from Japan, Australia and South America.
Featuring compositions written specially for the duo by composers Barry Congyham, Christian O’Brien and Annie Hsieh, the concert will open with Japanese composer Toru Takemitsu’s seminal work for flute and guitar Towards the Sea.
After interval Laila and Ken present a range of South American repertoire with works by Piazzolla, Guinga and Brazilian choro music, featuring guest artist Adam May on the cavaquinho. Original works reflecting Ken’s passion for Brazilian music complete the program.
