With his latest composition ‘Diasporas’ premiering on 21 May with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, prolific Australian composer Barry Conyngham, discusses how he balances a full-time creative practice with extensive academic management position as Dean of the Faculty of Victorian College of the Arts and Melbourne Conservatorium of Music. In discussion with Barry will be Adrian Collette, the University of Melbourne’s Vice Principal (Engagement), previously Chief Executive Officer of Opera Australia and eminent figure in the art and music scene. The event includes some video clips of his music including from a recent performance in Japan of his work Gardener of Time.
