Melbourne Chamber Orchestra : Elegies and Dances
- Date: Sunday, 7 September 2014, 2:30pm
- Venue: Melbourne Recital Centre — Cnr Southbank Boulevard & Sturt Street, Southbank, VIC
- Tickets: $109-$40
MCO presents an emotionally-charged homage to the two great moods of the string orchestra: the sparkling drive of the dance, and the poignancy of the elegy. Stirring Bachrich and Stokowski arrangements of famous Baroque adagios will take your breath away. On the dance card are Bartók’s rustic regionalism and Grieg’s enduring tribute to the courtly manners of the eighteenth century.
With over 250 concerto appearances to his credit, MCO Artistic Director William Hennessy is one of Australia’s best-loved soloists and his performance of Bach’s Concerto in A minor in this program is an event not to be missed.
