Event Details
Melbourne’s own Horns of Leroy and Swing Patrol will lead a joyous and jumpin’ musical march through Southbank, followed by a free outdoor concert at Fed Square. Whether you’re a musician, dancer or just feel like funkin’ it up, put on your marching shoes, rain or shine, and join in the fun!
For those of you unfamiliar with a second line street party, check out the short video below from a typical New Orleans celebration to get you in the mood.
We’ll be holding a workshop for musicians with the Horns of Leroy on Sunday 28 May, 11am-1pm to help you nail the notes. Dance workshops will also be held with Swing Patrol to help you master your moves at 11am on Saturday 3 June. Please register for these workshops here.
The afternoon continues at Federation Square with funk-laden fun from The Steve McQueens (Singapore) and big band performances featuring Australia’s best and brightest emerging jazz musicians.
Featuring:
Monash University Australian Jazz Ensemble
director Julien Wilson
WAAPA Jazz Ensemble
director Jamie Oehlers
