Event Details
Candlesnuffer (guitar and electronics) 8pm
David Brown has been involved in the Melbourne avant-garde, art rock/punk rock scene since the mid-seventies. The focus of his solo project “candlesnuffer” has increasingly centred on the development of composing techniques which meld opposing streams like conventional electroacoustic methods with noise and rock and also the development of a vocabulary of tiny acoustic sounds enlarged outside their normal context. He has continued to develop a vocabulary that runs the gamut from rock bassist through experimental guitarist to sound artist.
The Narcoleptor (Theremin and Harp) 9pm
Classical harp virtuosa Mary Doumany and cult thereminist Miles Brown (The Night Terrors) present an exciting new experimental collaboration - The Narcoleptor. This fearless duo melds the sound worlds of their iconic instruments, conjuring a stream-of-unconsciousness orgy of swirling dream fragments and microtonal hypnotica. The Narcoleptor presents a stunning psychotropic journey through the wonderfully weird, careening past sonic touchstones from horror soundtrack, dark ambient, circuit-bent psychedelia, modern classical focus and avant-goth catharsis.
