Event Details
Prokofiev’s Quintet in G minor, Op.39 was written for a travelling ballet dance troupe. It bears traces of the composer’s ballet, Trapèze, and is distinctly Parisian in style.
It’s not every day you get to hear a Concerto for Seven Trumpets and Timpani, and Johann Ernst Altenburg’s highly regal work will not disappoint.
Exaudi orationem nostrum is a beautiful, moving brass work by Australian composer Paul Terracini.
Finally, don’t miss Louis Davidson’s clever take on J.S. Bach’s popular Fugue in G minor (Little Fugue), BWV578.
Featured non-Australian music: Britten, Bach, Prokofiev, Scheidt, Altenburg
