Flautist Sally Walker has toured and recorded with the Berlin Philharmonic and Leipzig Gewandhaus orchestras. She joins the Queensland Youth Symphony on stage to perform the colourful and virtuosic concerto, Night and Now, written especially for her by Elena Kats-Chernin. La Mer is one of Debussy’s most admired and enduring works, a rich depiction of the ocean combining innovative orchestration with daring impressionistic harmonies. Composed in 1937, Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 5 is the composer’s most popular symphony with a musical language that is powerful and captivating.
