Event Details
Music exists in time, in the moment. Even familiar, much-loved masterpieces take on a fresh aspect with each new performance. Every artist and every artistic partnership brings something special. And so we welcome Dutch virtuoso Janine Jansen back to Sydney, this time accompanied by her husband, conductor Daniel Blendulf, in a program that brings together the verve and poetry of Brahms's great violin concerto and the life-affirming power of Sibelius's Fifth Symphony. Between them Nigel Butterley takes inspiration from Kathleen Raine: 'The sun that rose from the sea this morning will never return...Never this sun...never again this watcher.' Life, and music, experienced in the moment.
Featured non-Australian music: Sibelius, Brahms
