Event Details
On the occasion of the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War, the Consort presents a masterwork by Giacomo Carissimi inspired by war’s glory and folly; his rarely performed but stunning 12-part mass based on the French folk song L’homme armé.
The performance is framed by settings of La Guerre by Clément Janequin and Joseph Twist.
In 2014, The Consort of Melbourne presents a series of concerts that draws on the great repertoire for voices inspired by, or reflecting on the passion of human conflict and its triumphs and tragedies.
Featured non-Australian music: Carissimi, Janequin
