Event Details
Before his rise to cinematic fame, renowned Australian director Tim Burstall made The Prize (1959), a silent black-and-white children’s adventure which tells the story of Snowy, a boy who wins a baby goat at the country funfair but then has to rescue it from two mischievous bullies, who lead him on a perilous chase down a river.
Set in the small Victorian town of Eltham, The Prize is full of beautiful, picturesque sequences of the Australian bush. It is a children’s classic, full of charm and genuine excitement, and became one of Australia’s first internationally acclaimed films when it won bronze at the 1960 Venice Film Festival.
Now, George and Jonathan Dreyfus have turned their magic touch to The Prize, writing it a brand new musical score and casting it as the centerpiece of an exciting, interactive and educational new show which is mesmorising for children and adults alike.
