We’re excited to announce the first installment of The Great Attractor – a new interdisciplinary-performance series at KXT – Kings Cross Theatre, in partnership with Bakehouse Theatre Company.
The Great Attractor brings together some of Australia’s most inspiring and innovative artists from music, dance, poetry, photography, film, theatre and inter-media to transfuse their practice in a new interdisciplinary space. In each event, 4 artists from different disciplines are invited to interact and perform.
No. 1 features performers with deep attractions. Denley and de Quincey first worked together at Lake Mungo in the early 1990s (where the Milky Way haunted their creation). Stewart and Denley have been making sense of language and music since the late 1980s. Stewart, Denley and de Quincey have worked together in various laboratories in the C21st. Vlaskine and de Quincey travelled to the moon together in MOONDANCE 2015.
This is the first time all 4 will have clustered.
The Great Attractor is a gravity anomaly in intergalactic space within the vicinity of the Hydra-Centaurus Supercluster that reveals the existence of a localised concentration of mass, tens of thousands of times more massive than the Milky Way – which we are being drawn towards.
