The Idea of Spain : North Sydney Symphony Orchestra
- Date: Sunday, 20 September 2015, 2:30pm
- Venue: Smith Auditorium — Shore School, Blue Street, North Sydney, NSW
Event Details
For its fourth concert for the year NSSO goes in search of the idea of Spain. Could it be Enrique Granados’s stately dances, their effortless grace hiding a simmering energy? Could it be Isaac Albeniz’s folk-inspired tour of Spanish cities? Could it be Mexican-born composer Arturo Marquez’s ecstatic Danzon No.2? Or could it be the infectious rhythms, the sexy swerves and sun-kissed melodies of Australian-Chilean composer and piano virtuoso, Daniel Rojas, who joins us to perform his acclaimed Latin American Concerto?
This isn’t just foot-tapping stuff. This music will bring a grin to your face and - who knows? - might even make you dance!
Featured non-Australian music: de Falla, Albeniz, Granados, Marquez
