Event Details
Dreams, fairytales and fate are the inspiration behind a phantasmagoric concert that might be the soundtrack of a sleeping mind. With US-based Australian soprano Jessica Aszodi showcased at its centre, this suite of surprising and beguiling works will lead the listener down the unmapped byways of the imagination. Step into the enchanted worlds of Unsuk Chin’s classic 7-part ensemble work Acrostic-Wordplay, an inventive recasting of seven fairytale scenes featuring a weird and wonderful array of instruments including mandolin, harp, antique cymbals and marimba. Be caught up in London-based Australian composer Lisa Illean’s dream-inspired international co-commission Cantor, and bewitched by Irish performer and composer Jennifer Walshe’s wildly irreverent Everything you own has been taken to a depot somewhere. Also featuring new work by Annie Hui-Hsin Hsieh and Anahita Abbasi, Who Dreamed It? will reawaken your senses to the magic of music that knows no boundaries.
