Event Details

In a much-anticipated event for the eyes and ears, Zephyr Quartet presents Music for Strings and iThings, a dynamic collaboration with composers and artists to create a unique spectacle at Adelaide’s ABC Studio 520. Technology and electronics are now embedded in music. Adelaide’s award winning string quartet marries music for strings with electronic things from our recent and distant past – smart phones, iPads, gaming, loopers, Theremin and more.

During the ABC's Australian Music Month, Music for Strings and iThings is a demonstration of Zephyr’s dedication to collaborative practice within the discipline of music and composition, and with a diverse range of disciplines including lighting design, animation, gaming and other geekery. Zephyr invites the audience to leave their phones switched on during the concert, and become part of the performance themselves.

Performers: Zephyr Quartet performing world-premieres by composers Cat Hope, Al Thumm, voiceROM, Brendan Woithe, Hilary Kleinig, Luke Harrald
