Japanese author Haruki Murakami begins in his love story IQ84 with a woman stuck in an expressway gridlock in Tokyo. She leaves her taxi, takes off her high heels and walks down the metal emergency exit stairs to a new reality in the streets below. Here she observes two moons in the night sky. The two moons move slowly together, and their presence seems to allow the unexpected to gently and slowly evolve. A labyrinth of relationships and events unfold, and brings two long parted lovers together.
Murakami ran a jazz café at one part of his life, and he also has an interest in art music, and these interests have been taken into consideration in the music.
