Summary: For fourteen years this gifted and spirited Australian writer lived an expatriate existence on the Greek islands of Kalymnos and Hydra with her husband George Johnston and their children. Here, her parallel lives flourished – private and public, fictional and factual, masked and exposed, archetypal and idiosyncratic - and were expressed in her collections Mermaid Singing and Peel Me a Lotus and in her husband's novels. A revealing biographical portrait with undertones of Greek tragedy, featuring the voices of Charmian Clift, her son Martin Johnston, biographer Nadia Wheatley, and Lydia Korniodou. Readings by Rebecca Havey and Simon Maiden. Produced by Robyn Ravlich.
