CDYou gotta reap / The Mighty Reapers

Product details
This new CD for the Mighty Reapers was recorded in 1990 and has been kept 'on the shelf' till now! It represents an important formative period for the band and certainly the very best of the Reapers' set at that time. Only two years prior to this recording the Dynamic Hepnotics had disbanded, with the band's key members deciding to make the Reapers their full time project. More blues-based than the Hepnotics, the Reapers still incorporated funk and soul styles into their sound and the presence of a more upfront harmonica, guitar and congas made for a unique quality which the band has built on since this recording. Included on the CD are such classics as 'Drowning in the sea of love' which the band had learnt from the US blues singer Margie Evans on her 1987 tour as well as Reaper originals like Robert Susz's driving 'Ting-a-ling'. Also included on 'You Gotta Reap' is an exciting live version of 'Little by little', recorded in 1990 during a tour with US sax legend Big Jay McNeely. It shows just how impressive the Reapers are live and features special guest Bruce Allen on baritone sax. Other guests include Peter Dasent(organ) and Don Hopkins (piano). It was decided it was high time that this strong set of songs from the early Mighty Reapers made it onto CD. It will also give many people an insight into the band's beginnings and make a worthy addition to the Mighty Reapers recorded output.
