Jeux à deux : for two pianos
by May Howlett (2013)
Library shelf no. 785.6212/HOW 1 [Not for loan]
"The Games People Play' - this well-known saying gave me an
idea... For over two hundred years, pianos have stood in corners,
quiet observers of those times.
From gold-encrusted grand pianos in palatial salons to the lowliest, broken-down honkytonks in the slums of cities, every piano would have a story to tell - if it could only speak.
A playful conversation between two ... pianos echoes the games people play, chasing each other in a display of various styles, moods and modes. Different musical genres, from the elegant waltz, to a raunchy slow boogie are wrapped in a fabric of contemporary tonal themes, the main protagonists in these "games".
Instrumentation: 2 pianos.
Duration: 7 min.
