Instrumentation: Flute/piccolo, oboe, A clarinet (doubling E flat clarinet), bass clarinet, bassoon (doubling contra-bassoon), 2 horns, trumpet, trombone (tenor/bass), tuba, percussion (1 player), piano, solo cello, 2 violins, viola, cello, double bass (5 strings).
Difficulty: Advanced — Professional.
Dedication note: For Raphael Wallfisch and the WASO 20th Century Ensemble.
First performance: by Roger Smalley, Raphael Wallfisch, West Australian Symphony Orchestra 20th Century Ensemble — 19 Feb 97. Perth Concert Hall.
