This work is a memorial piece for the young Australian violinist,
Richard Pollett who was killed in a tragic cycing accident in
Brisbane on September 27, 2011.
It is a highly atmospheric piece that uses stylized birdsong and a quotation of the chorale Es is Genug to create a highly charged emotional statement about loss and acceptance.
Instrumentation: String orchestra (minimum 188.8.131.52.1).
Duration: 9 min.
Difficulty: Advanced — requires excellent intonation, good control of harmonics and part balance

Somewhat influenced by the compositional processes of Panufnik, the work features layering and quotation to add contextual depth to this memorial piece.
