Work Overview

Machines and technology have now become such an integral part of our lives that we could barely imagine living without them. This violin sonata was inspired by the sounds and construction patterns found in machines, seeking to transform such abstract ideas into music. The violin and piano are also two magnificent pieces of human technology which require a supreme levels of technical mastery as well as human spirit. The idea of the discourse between human and 'machine' is thus at the heart of the piece. This sonata is constructed in a three movement format which looks to bring a new slant to a traditional structure.
