Work Overview
This is a notated work based around a poem written by Jo Truman about the origins of her middle name 'Unity" exploring history and her own personal responses. The work is written in ABA format involves some somewhat difficult extended violin techniques and also challenging vocal leaps for the singer. These technical leaps and dissonances are somewhat softened by a marimba part which establishes soft, rolling and repetitive sequences throughout the work.
