[Update 24.11.2008: deadline for applications on Monday 1 December!]

The APRA Professional Development Awards provide cash, travel and recognition to music composers and song writers in the early stages of their careers. Nominations for the 2009 awards are now being sought. The Professional Development Awards are presented by APRA in conjunction with music organisations.

The PDAs are for Australian composers or songwriters who can demonstrate that they possess outstanding potential in their field. Each award is worth $12,000, and up to eight awards will be given. For more details about how to nominate and information about past award winners, please see the PDA subpage of the Australian Music Centre website.

The composers and song writers should align themselves to one of the six categories - Popular Contemporary, Country, Jazz, Classical, Film and Television, Indigenous - and send their nomination document to a partner organisation by Monday, 1 December 2008.

The Australian Music Centre connects people around the world to Australian composers and sound artists. By facilitating the performance, awareness and appreciation of music by these creative artists, it aims to increase their profile and the sustainability of their art form. Established in 1974, the AMC is now the leading provider of information, resources, materials and products relating to Australian new music.
