Australian music on ABC Classic FM in October 2009
In October on ABC Classic FM New Music Up Late (now broadcasting two days a week on digital radio and online), is having a big Australian month with ten programs of Australian content, including the Ian Potter Foundation special concert, Electrofringe festival, ELISION ensemble, composer/sound artists Cat Hope and Ros Bandt, Liquid Architecture festival and more broadcast premieres of Australian concerts on both Friday and Saturday nights from 10.30pm. And In Performance and our other concert broadcast programs include a number of Australian works as well.
Meanwhile the AMU podcast presents NOW now '09, recordings from the diverse venues of this year's NOW now Festival, including a cave and a street corner. And the collection of ABC archival recordings of Australian music continues to grow at classic/amp.

Tonight we take an aural stroll through the many sounds on offer
at this year's Electrofringe festival, part of This Is Not Art
held in Newcastle, NSW.

Tonight we spin discs from the collection of WA
composer/performer/sound artist and lecturer Cat Hope, talk to

Saturday 17 October 10.30pm - ELISION in Session
Tonight we feature a new recording of Aussie international
ensemble ELISION in a studio double concert of new works from
younger Australians Robert Dahm and ensemble member Benjamin
Marks alongside Australian premieres of recent works from
long-time ELISION associate Liza Lim, and from new and old
international friends Michael Finnissy, Richard Barrett, Jeroen
Speak and Evan Johnson.

Saturday 24 October 10.30pm - Blue Gold, mark II
Tonight we mark this international day of climate change action
with the broadcast premiere of a new studio production of
composer Ros Bandt's Blue Gold, an electroacoustic work
fusing environmental recordings with performance by clarinettist
Richard Haynes and cellist Louise King in an investigation of the
delicate balance between wet and dry.
