Nominations open for the 2017 Don Banks Music Award
The Australia Council for the Arts is calling for nominations for the 2017 Australia Council Awards, including the prestigious Don Banks Music Award. The closing date for nominations is 4 October.
Named in honour of Don Banks, an Australian composer, performer and the first Chair of the Music Board, the Don Banks Award acknowledges the achievements of a distinguished over-50-year-old artist who has made an outstanding and sustained contribution to music in Australia. The Australia Council Awards also include awards for literature, dance, theatre, visual art, emerging & experimental arts, as well as community arts and cultural development.
Recent winners of the Australia Council Don Banks Music Award include Brett Dean, Archie Roach, Mike Nock, Kev Carmody, Jon Rose and Belinda Webster.
