Queen's Birthday honours to Gill, Ford, Ceberano, Vartoukian

Musicians recognised for their services to music in the 2016 Queen's Birthday Honours list include conductor Richard Gill, who was appointed as Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) 'for distinguished service to the performing arts as a conductor, artistic director and advisor, to the development of music education, and as a mentor of young musicians', and singer-songwriter Kate Ceberano, who was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for 'significant services to performing arts, particularly music, as singer-songwriter and entertainer, and to charitable organisations'. Composer Andrew Ford received a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for 'service to music composition, and as an author and radio broadcaster'.

The Honours list also recognised an Australian pioneer of music therapy programs, Professor Denise Grocke (AO), and the founding director of Theme and Variations and supporter of Australian music, Ara Vartoukian (OAM).
