Gordon Kerry's Captain Flinders' Musick: concerto for flute and small orchestra is about to receive its first performance in Glasgow, performed by the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, with Alison Mitchell as flute soloist and Olari Elts conducting. The composer will attend the concerts on 28 October and give a pre-concert talk in front of the orchestra's home audience at Glasgow's City Halls concert complex. The second performance will take place on 29 October in Edinburgh. The Flute Concerto is one of the works Kerry composed as part of his Ian Potter Music Commissions grant.

Kerry has also been announced as the featured composer of Musica Viva's International Concert Season 2012. Five of his works will be performed by Musica Viva's guest artists for the season: Elegy (2007) for string quartet, performed by the St Lawrence String Quartet; Im Winde (2000), performed by Trio Dali; Variations for String Quartet (2006), performed by the Takács Quartet; Martian Snow (2008), performed by Anthony Marwood and Aleksandar Madžar; as well as the world premiere of a new Viola Quintet (2012), performed by the Kuss Quartet and Naoko Shimizu, and commissioned for Musica Viva Australia by Kim Williams, AM.
