Event Details
Sassy, glitzy, seductive - German dance hall and cabaret in the guise of Australian contemporary chamber music The 1920s and 30s – a legendary scene of jazz, dance, scandal, and silliness! – all with the tension of a Europe about to shatter. Featuring the operetta “The Sharpest Piece”. Belittled and controlled every day in a repressive marriage, a housewife believing herself made of glass fears the slightest wrong move will literally CRACK her into thousands of shards. Accompanied by two world premieres by Marcellino and Kennedy and a fusion of Aussie und Deutsch chamber works and cabaret songs.
Featured non-Australian music: Kurt Weill - Lonely House; Hugo Wolf - Verborgenheit; Max Raabe - Ein Tag Wie Gold
