About Tristan Lee
Australian pianist Tristan Lee is internationally recognised for his sensitive and virtuosic musicianship. He has toured the major concert halls, been mentored by François-Frédéric Guy and Leslie Howard and dazzled critics with his ‘brilliant and mature’ interpretive flair (Limelight magazine).
About the concert
Our bond with Earth and with nature remains profound. We marvel at how composers, with their infinite curiosity towards nature coupled with their introspection, have created works of poetic genius. It is no secret that Beethoven was an avid nature lover. His walks in the countryside were a wellspring of inspiration for his art, of which his ‘Pastorale’ and ‘Waldstein’ piano sonatas are two such examples. Emotionally, these masterpieces take us from slow, mystic passages of reflection to flashes of blazing triumph. Closer to home, and to the present, Linda Kouvaras’ evocative Shoalhaven Nightpainters revels in the beauty of the Australian bush. Performed by pianist Tristan Lee, these three compositions of great power, optimism and humanity, provide us with an invigorating opportunity to reflect on our own relationship with nature.
