Miriam Hyde AO, OBE (1913-2005), was one of the foremost Australian composers of the twentieth century, known for her appealing, nature-inspired post-romantic style and exquisite craftsmanship. Ms Hyde found the medium of flute and piano particularly inspiring, and Dancing Shadows contains her complete works for the combination.

The release introduces the exciting partnership of Australian-Swiss flautist Bridget Bolliger and British pianist Andrew West. They bring Ms Hyde's delightful music to the attention of listeners and flute players alike.

Miriam Hyde was also a recognised poet, and the album concludes with a selection of her poetry read by the renowned Australian actor Gerard Maguire.
